FUND DEVELOPMENT

Fund development is an essential activity for the majority of nonprofit organizations.  Most organizations find it prudent to build the internal capacity needed to develop both institutional and individual giving bases.  Establishing an individual donor base is important as a means of creating a group of supporters with a long-term commitment to an organization’s success.  Individual donors not only make personal contributions, but they also form the basis for a broader fundraising network, with connections to other individuals and to institutional funders.  They often are key to fulfilling the major gift requirements of capital and endowment campaigns.  Similarly important is funding from foundations and corporate giving programs, which can increase program and operational revenues at relatively high levels compared to individual giving.

We have substantial fund development experience in the nonprofit sector, and bring an array of skills and strengths to enhance the fundraising programs of client organizations.  We:

  • conduct feasibility studies to assess the potential for fundraising success
  • develop comprehensive fundraising plans and strategies
  • manage implementation of campaign plans and ongoing campaign activities
  • staff campaign committees and subcommittees
  • devise board development programs, prepare training materials and conduct solicitor training workshops
  • assist in cultivating, recruiting and developing volunteer leadership for fundraising activities
  • identify and work actively with external funding institutions - e.g., corporate, foundation, government, etc. - to secure grant support
  • plan and implement direct mail campaigns
  • develop promotional/marketing materials and public relations strategies
  • serve as interim and/or part-time development staff for client agencies
We have planned and managed capital, endowment and annual fund campaigns.  We have been successful in obtaining significant corporate, foundation and government grants for our clients, and have broad familiarity with the institutional funding community in New England.  Our assignments involve both fundraising campaigns of a fixed duration and ongoing general fund development responsibilities for client agencies.
