The firm’s principal is SAM SOLOMON, a seasoned organizational development and fundraising consultant with more than 25 years of senior level management and programmatic experience in government and educational institutions and with nonprofit agencies. He has consulted with a wide range of human service, community development, health care, educational, philanthropic, cultural and religious organizations since 1991. Previously, he served as Director of Operations for the Combined Jewish Philanthropies of Greater Boston -- New England’s largest sectarian fundraising and community planning organization - and as Chief of Staff to the President of the University of Massachusetts system. Earlier in his career, he held program and management positions with the Office for Civil Rights in the U.S. Department of Health, Education & Welfare (HEW); and, during the Carter Administration, he served, first, as Chief of Staff for HEW’s Assistant Secretary for Education and the U.S. Commissioner of Education and, subsequently, as Director of Intergovernmental Relations in the newly-established U.S. Department of Education. Sam holds graduate degrees from the University of Southern California (Public Policy) and the University of South Carolina (American Literature). He is a member of the National Society of Fundraising Executives; a partner of the Associated Grantmakers of Massachusetts; a member of the Consultants Network for Excellence in Nonprofits; and a fundraising and board development trainer for the Nonprofit Management Institute. In addition, he serves as an active board member of a number of nonprofit organizations. His professional training also includes instruction in organizational self-assessment facilitation (Drucker Foundation for Nonprofit Management); program outcomes measurement (United Way of Massachusetts Bay); and managing nonprofit mergers, acquisitions, strategic alliances and network formation (The Boston Foundation).
